DefenCell T4 Expeditionary Force Protection System

The DEFENCELL T4 is four cells wide and provides a minimum  2.25m of protection when filled. The DT4 is the largest module of the DEFENCELL Force Protection System but is still compact  and easily carried, an unfilled unit weighing under 12kg. When filled, a single T4 makes a wall section 4.9 m long, 0.6 m high and 2.50 m wide, and stacked four units high to 2.10m,  produces a substantial wall providing protection against  rockets and VBIED.

Units can be filled with anything from earth and sand through to  small rocks. This makes it particularly suitable for mountainous  or dry arid areas. Individual units can be stacked on top of each  other to make higher walls, placed alongside each other to provide greater protection levels and stacked with smaller T3  and T2 on top for higher structures.  

The T4 is ideal perimeter security walls, vehicle protection barriers, entry control points and vehicle inspection lanes as well as providing ballistic protection critical infrastructure. It can be dropped from height with no likelihood of damage making it ideal for remote locations.

Independently tested, a single width T4 will protect against small arms up to 25mm cannon and a direct hit from medium and large mortars or a near-miss from mortars and rockets.
The T4 has been vehicle crash tested to US Dept of State K12 standard and UK PAS68. Its all textile construction means no secondary fragmentation from metal or plastic components.

T4 can be filled by hand but is usually any form of mechanical  equipment is used. Unlike sandbags, T4 needs no tamping or specific building technique: simply fill it and compact by treading however care should be taken to prepare the ground when building higher walls. A filling frame is provided to ensure accurate, quick building.
